Passion Profile

“Don’t think about what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
~ Howard Thurman

Feeling a Bit Short of Passion?

The fact that you are here on this page indicates to me that you are an intelligent and inquisitive person.  I’d also like to hazard a guess that you’ve realised a need to achieve higher levels of personal fulfilment.

Well lets do something about that.

How happy we feel about ourselves is inextricably linked to our ability to operate from our personal passions.  The reason for this is that our passions are what we love – they are born of the heart.

When we operate at our highest levels of personal growth we each of us experience a desire to reach for high-level capabilities, striving for creativity to become a what we believe is our fully functioning person.  We feel the need, a real urge to connect with our core, to use our innate and unique gifts as intended for us, to nurture our passions to enable us to realise our full potential.  How amazing it is to realise that life is therefore designed for us to experience continued and ever increasing growth, expansion and fulfilment.

It doesn’t just happen.  We have to choose to pursue it.

It’s in our instincts to ‘be’ and ‘do’ that which we were ‘born to do’.  When we choose to do this we use our innate gifts and talents.  Life feels easy, we get into our flow and radiate a willingness to give.  This is when the magic happens.  We attract.  We magnetise.  We emanate natural positive energy.  Success becomes a by product of choosing to be a part of an easy world.

Passion Insights:

I can’t have an opinion from a score on how fulfilling your personal situation is.  I can however give you some insight as to why these points have such power over your happiness and success in life.  I share these insights with you here, each number relates to the corresponding question;

  1. Your ideal life mirrors what you know that your heart needs to be fulfilled.  What you love and what you are passionate about are inextricably linked as they come from the heart.  You can’t be logical about this.  You are far more likely to achieve a life that aligns with your passions if you are clear about what that life looks like and have a plan of how your going to get there.
  2. Getting clear about your passions is key to being able to make them a consistent part of your life.  If you have a fuzzy idea of your passions you can only expect fuzzy results.  Your passions are fundamental to feeling a life of fulfilment, they are your highest level of need.  Make a conscious decision and you will experience that what you give your attention to grows stronger in your life.
  3. When you have a choice to make between money and your passion, between ego and your passion, between other pressures and your passion…….choose your passion every time.  You will experience that life starts to deliver results to you in unexpected ways that you cannot have foreseen, creating alternate solutions to paths that you may already be committed to or restricted to.  This is the number one thing you can put into practice right now.
  4. If you can take money, the need for money or the desire for money out of the equation and know that you would continue to give your energy to what you do then you know it is a true passion
  5. When you are passionate about something it receives your full attention.  You are engaged and engaging.  Your eyes light up and you are filled with an energy that communicates your commitment to it.  This kind of energy can’t be sustained by anyone without that same authentic drive.
  6. When you have a mission based on your passions you feel totally aligned.  You experience an innate drive where you just can’t help but push yourself forward.  You are enthused and committed, giving your attention to do what ever it takes to achieve it.   You find your voice, find your confidence, and take action with gusto.
  7. This one I can’t explain but I know to be true.  Look around you at anyone who is truly passionate about what they do.  They seem to be elegantly successful, like a success magnet they attract everything they need to them.
  8. When you are pursuing your passions any challenge that confronts you is merely a step towards achieving your goals.  What might in other circumstances reduce you to paralysis through fear becomes an opportunity to grow and achieve your dreams.
  9. When you are living the life that you are designed to live, the one that your unique talents and loves are made for, you find that people want to be in your space.  You elevate each other in living your passions. People want to exchange money for the value you give.

Identify your Passions:

Now we know how aligned your life is with your passions we can start to think about how to improve on that.  So how can we increase the enjoyment and fulfilment we get out of life?

Answer: Increase the Passion!

Here are some clues to guide you to your passions:

  • What do you love to do?
  • What excites you?
  • What angers you?
  • What calms you?
  • What lights you up and animates you?
  • Who’s company do you like to be in?
  • Who’s talents are you jealous of?
  • Who inspires you?
  • What are you good at?
  • What do people compliment you on?
  • What do you have a natural ability to do?
  • What are your unique skills and talents?
  • What do you make time to do?
  • What motivates you to take action?
  • What are you happy to offer to do for others?
  • What will you argue about over and over again?
  • Are you a learner? – What subject are you drawn to?
  • What does life seem to want you to do?

I suggest you take some time to find some personal space and think these through.  Don’t just have one go at it, the more you consider them, the more ideas will come to you.  Also, they will change over time you naturally focus on different areas of your life.  If you are really struggling why not have a brain storm with friends.  Remember though these are your passions so don’t let others influence your choices beyond giving you the ideas.

Next, consider your ideal life:

This is an important exercise on two levels:

First; it can provide you with more ideas as to what you are passionate about

Second; it can provide you with the motivation you need to make your passions a part of your life

  • What would that look like?
  • What would it feel like?
  • What would you be doing?
  • What would you eat?
  • How often would you exercise?
  • What would your relationships be like?
  • What roles would you play out?
  • Would you have lots of money?
  • Would you have lots of time?
  • Would you pamper yourself?
  • What hobbies would you have?
  • What might you learn?

Now you have a picture of your ideal life it’s important that you give it your attention or it, and your passions will never happen for you.  That’s where personal development can help you.  To take action.  To step outside of your comfort zone.  To be persistent and consistent.  I suggest that you connect with me through my blog to delve into what I have to share with you there.

One thing I would suggest you do right now though is fill your life with reminders of the direction you are moving towards.  There are many, many, many ways to do this.  Some people create a vision board.  This is a compilation of images and/or quotes that help keep your mind on what it is that you want.  You’ll need to keep it in a prominent place or create digital version for your computer or digital photo frame but I promise you this will keep your attention on your ideal life and your passions.  People listen to CDs that remind them what to focus on – I do this while I’m running to prime my day.   Lots of people like positive affirmations – I think they’re a bit tree huggy myself but even Olympic athletes us these!  Find your own way to keep your attention, focus and energy on what it is that you want.  If you don’t, believe me it will fade and die.

My final message to you right here is this;

You are unique and powerful.  You do have innate talents and gifts that are nature given only to you.  When you live a life aligned with these you cannot help but experience a world of expansion and possibility.  With this comes joy and fulfilment.  You can choose, right now, to become self aware and experience a fully engaged, passionate and empowered life.  BUT – you have to CHOOSE to do it.

What are you choosing?
